CONTEST DEADLINE

Contest Rules: All entries should be inspirational or on any subject suitable for a Christian publication, and may be previously published or unpublished. Entries will not be considered for publication, only for awards. No first place poems or prose from previous years or work published in Grandmother Earth can be entered.

NATIONAL AWARDS:

Welcome, writers everywhere.

1. Poetry: 50-line limit. $75, $20, $10

2. Prose: 2000-word limit. Fiction or non-fiction or devotionals. $50, $20, $10

CONFERENCE AWARDS:

Open to those who register to attend the conference:

3. Poetry: 40-line limit. $50, $15, $10

4. Prose: 1500-word limit. $50, $15, $10

All prose must be double spaced; poetry should be single spaced.

Fees: A fee of $5 entitles you to enter one entry. $2 for each additional entry. Critique from the judges is available for $10. Write the word critique on the upper right corner of each entry to be critiqued (limit 6 works in each category). No limit on the number of entries in each contest. Make checks payable to Life Press and mail to P. 0. Box 2018, Cordova, TN 38088. Postmark by June 30. Send one copy of each original entry with name and number of the contest and no identification. Include a cover sheet with your name, address, telephone number, email and list of all entries in each contest with total fees paid. Please send a self-addressed stamped envelope for winners’ list. Entries being critiqued will be returned at the conference or if a SASE is enclosed.

This conference will be of benefit for writers regardless of whether or now you write

for Christian publications. Please pre-register by August 1. Conference Fees: $30 Continental breakfast and lunch. $35 Registration fee entitles a participant to send one entry ($2 each additional entry), and includes Continental Breakfast and lunch. All entries of conference attendees (limit 6 works in each category) can be critiqued for $5 extra. Local writers can call for an additional discount.

Registration (including food, but with-out entries) is $30. Spouse Registration is $20.

DIRECTIONS TO THE CONFERENCE:

Covenant United Methodist Church, 8350 Walnut Grove, Cordova, TN:

North East corner of Walnut Grove and Walnut Bend, just off Germantown PKWY. Approaching Memphis from I-40 take the Nashville east exit and then go past next Nashville exit and take the Walnut Grove east exit. Continue east on Walnut Grove over the overpass of Germantown PKWY. The first traffic light will be Walnut Bend. Turn left and you will turn immediately into the parking lot on your right.

From East TN on I-40 take the Germantown Exit (South). Turn left on Trinity. Go to the first 4-way stop. Turn right (Walnut Bend). Just before you get to the traffic light, you will see the church on your left. Turn left into the church parking lot. Go right around the church to the Smith Center on the South side. If you miss Trinity, turn left onto Walnut Grove and continue to first traffic light.

From South Germantown Rd or Comfort Inn, go north and turn just after Lowe’s onto Walnut Bend. Go just past the first traffic light which will be Walnut Grove. The church is to your immediate right. Go around the building to the Smith Center.
